EVENT | Swatch Spring/Summer 2016 Collection Preview

Recently, I was invited to the unveiling of the Swatch S/S16 collection in Soder + Ko, George's Street in Dublin. Of course, I jumped at the chance to go, and I brought my friend Sarah with me.

 THE COLLECTION
The Swatch Spring/Summer watches are colourful, bright and quirky. On one side of the room, there were many different themed collections on display, like Metallix, Floralia, and my favourite one Es War Einmal. Es War Einmal, which translates to Once Upon a Time, is 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired; the Cheshire Cat watch is definitely the one that caught my attention the most.

On the other side were stand alone watches. In time for Valentine's Day, there was an adorable love-themed watch, displayed with marshmallows that I was very tempted to eat. Another cool one was the rainbow 'Spot the Dot' watch, designed by Alessandro Mendini.

There were two gorgeous models with pretty floral crowns showing off the watches, and with them, the spring décor in the trendy venue, and of course the S/S watches, I got so excited about the coming season!

The new Swatch collection is available now, and the watches are from €50. Worth the investment if you want good quality, quirky arm candy.

THE EVENT ITSELF
Cupcakes, flowers and Conor Merriman portraits galore! Yep, Conor Merman was there again. He drew me (technically just my head) at the H&M A/W15 Preview back in September, and I got the chance to be drawn by him again at the Swatch preview! He sketched Sarah and I with ease and speed, and he drew Floralia watches on our wrists. I love his drawing style, and I'm thrilled to now have two pictures of me sketched by him.

There were cute and delicious 'Alice in Wonderland' themed cupcakes, as well as other treats, displayed prettily. Sarah and I might have eaten more than one cupcake each. I loved how everything at the event fitted together; the cakes table was colourful and floral, much like the spring/summer collection itself.

One of the perks of going to this event was the chance to meet Leanne Woodfull from Thunder + Threads! One of my favourite ever bloggers/YouTubers was in the same room as me, and I actually first found that out by looking at Leanne's snapchat story (I know, how sad). Nervously, I went up to her, told her I loved her blog, and Sarah took a photo of us together. It was so surreal! I felt super professional since I was invited to the same event as her :D.

Sarah and I stayed for about an hour or so, eating cupcakes, admiring the beautiful watches and complimenting Conor for his talent. I really enjoyed it! The only downside was that there was a photographer there working for a publication, not sure which one, taking photos of bloggers attending the event. Unfortunately, because we're under 18 and we didn't have any guardians with us, we couldn't have our photo taken for the publication. We didn't mind too much, though it would have been amazing!
