Tomorrow is December 1st, meaning it will be finally time to deck your halls and rock around the Christmas tree! In my opinion, Christmas music is one of the best things about the season. While I'm a sucker for the classics, I enjoy hearing alternative, modern covers and original songs too. I decided, for those who want a bit of break from Slade and Shakin' Stevens, to compile a list of my favourite 'different' Christmas songs for you all to dance (or cry) to when decorating the house, or baking Christmas cookies, or whatever you fancy. There are a good few moving ones; you've been warned.
Hayley Westenra is on this playlist a record of three times - I saw her live in Dublin a few years ago, and she has a special Christmas-y place in my heart. There's such a variety - from George Michael to Bastille, from My Chemical Romance to Ariana Grande. I even threw in two recognisable tunes from Will Ferrell's "Elf". Whether you know all the songs or none of them, I hope you like the mix!
Listen to the playlist on YouTube here.
December Song - George Michael
White Christmas - Panic! at the Disco
River - Hayley Westenra
Main Title Song from "Elf"
All I Want for Christmas Is You - My Chemical Romance
Santa Tell Me - Ariana Grande
Carol of the Bells - Hayley Westenra
Pennies from Heaven - Louis Prima (from "Elf")
Yule Shoot Your Eye Out - Fall Out Boy
Christmas Morning - Hayley Westenra
merry christmas darling - Christina Perri
Cold December Night - Michael Buble
Christmas Lights - Coldplay
Merry Christmas, Kiss My A** - All Time Low
Tuning Out... - Bastille
(cover of 'O Holy Night' - play until 2:09)

I love christmas music too, definitely one of the best parts - but it is always nice to find some alternatives to the usual carols as there's so many talented musicians out there doing christmas songs! I love Christmas Lights, and also the MCR/ Panic!/FOB covers of classics. I'll definitely be checking out the rest! x

Christmas music is just the best! Christmas Lights is beautiful, I only discovered it this year!
DeleteI love so many of these! I actually had this post planned for my blogmas with a lot of the same songs, so I guess I'll put that on the shelf for this year. My personal favourite on this list has to be Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass by All Time Low. To me, it just feels like a silent responsive to my annoying younger cousins singing regular christmas songs loudly. No but seriously, I love that song.
