This post unfortunately is not an OOTD as the lighting quality wasn't the greatest in my living room. You can't exactly see the outfit clearly in the photos and I might use this outfit for a future feature anyway. However I did like this particular photo taken by my sister (thanks!) at my Mum and Dad's fiftieth last Saturday the 19th (which I will get to eventually) so I thought why not edit it to make it look cooler with a galaxy effect and include it in what actually is an update post on Queen of Quirk!
The closing Dublin Fashion Festival event, the Futuristic Beauty show, that I attended with my sister (who got the tickets - thanks Emily!), took place last Sunday. I had no idea what to expect, as this was to be no ordinary fashion show; a recycled design competition, futuristic body painting show and dance entertainment were only a few things to be hosted at the Ballsbridge Hotel. I had a feeling it would be at least an interesting end to the week!
In August I entered Stellar magazine's competition; a giveaway of 200 tickets to the preview of the H&M AW15 Collection in the shop in College Green, Dublin. I received an email just a few weeks ago confirming that I won a ticket and a plus one! I was ecstatic as I was dying to see the collection (which has now been available since 10th September by the way - hit the shop soon!) and attend the sophisticated event as part of the Dublin Fashion Festival!
On Wednesday, I received my Junior Cert results (I'm over the moon with them), and soon after, with my year, I hopped on a bus to start our camping trip adventure. Most students after receiving Junior Cert results go out in the evening to a disco, while my school sends everyone to Lough Dan for two nights every year!
Flormar, one of the world’s best-loved brands with purse friendly prices, has hit the shops in Ireland. In July, I attended the Flormar press release (you can read about it here) and I received a goodie goodie goodie bag full of goodie goodie products; here's what I think of them!
FLORMAR BRONZING POWDER FACE AND BODY
Expecting the bronzer to be quite orange-y, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a lovely light brown shade. It still is a bit dark for my ghostly skin but when blended in it gives me a beautiful bronzed glow! The formula is smooth and the bronzer is easy to apply. It has just the right amount of shimmer in it. A huge bronzer for only €9.95, it sure is a big bargain!
FLORMAR ILLUMINATING PRIMER MAKE UP BASE
This creamy primer smooths out skin and creates a mattifying base for the rest of your make up. I thought the scent of this was quite different, only to find out that it is 'infused with green tea and acacia to soothe and nourish skin'; that's not usual for a primer which makes this product extra unique. The formula is hydrating, and at €9.95, the primer is worth snapping up.
FLORMAR COLOUR EYE SHADOW PALETTE
Need a a small, basic neutral collection of eye shadow shades that won't break the bank? Pick this €9.95 beauty up. I love this palette as the shadows are pigmented and blendable and also crease-proof. For a quick simple eye this is what I use!
FLORMAR REVOLUTION LIPSTICK IN PROVOCATIVE ORANGE
I haven't had the full opportunity to try this lippie out, but from what I have seen it is quite a colour and formula. It glides smoothly onto the lips and is a bright coral shade from application with it's impact and shine. At €6.95 more lipsticks from Flormar are a definite must buy for me when I'm next out shopping!
FLORMAR'S LONG WEARING LIP GLOSS IN BACK STAGE
With a creamy 3D effect, this gorgeous lip gloss is shimmery and sweet. When wearing it my lips still feel slightly sticky but the lip gloss' shine and colour overrules that con. Enriched with Vitamin C and E, the product apparently helps to protect and moisturise the lips. I may not have noticed my lips feeling more soft but nonetheless this €5.95 lip gloss is a must-have.
FLORMAR JELLY LOOK NAIL ENAMEL IN TURQUOISE GREEN
My favourite product of them all, this nail polish doesn't budge when applied. It stays strong and bright with only two coats for a good few days, and the green colour was perfect for this summer. On my nails it looks acrylic; the polish is that shiny and smooth! The long handle helps with the application. I'm not sure of the price but I will add it here as soon as I know!
I really really really want to try out more products from Flormar as the make up to me seems super high quality for a drugstore brand. I love it!
Have you tried out any Flormar Professional Make Up?
Back to school, and possibly work, time has finally arrived, but so has the autumn and winter fashion for this year! Dublin Fashion Festival starts next week, and what better way to celebrate than showing you what's on my high street wish list for the season!
I need an updated wardrobe, so hopefully some pieces here will be in my possession soon.
Dunagrees / Pinafores
I've always wanted a one piece similar to these from Topshop for transitioning into the colder weather. When it does get cold, I'd pair tights with one. Minimal fashion is in this season, and I think a pinafore or simple dungarees would make do with the trend!
Quirky Accessories and Chunky Boots
I spotted these lovelies on the ASOS app, like the rest of the clothing to be shown, and it reminded me how much I'd love to spice up basics with stand out shoes, bags, hats and hairbands. Speaking of hairbands, I bought new cat ears from New Look the other day - I'm on my way!
Cape / Blanket Jackets / Whatever you Call These
Not sure of the name, but I'd love to get myself one of these! One in autumnal shades would be ideal to throw an outfit together with this autumn and winter.
Bomber Jacket
I've needed to buy one for the longest time ever! I honestly think all bomber jackets look the bomb - hah, get it? It would be a fabulous outerwear piece to sport this season.
Scarves
Much like the capes, I could add scarves to any outfit to add colour or to switch up a look from day to night. But with scarves, I'm sure I could find a bunch around my house, or even in my Granny's, instead of buying any. Talk about vintage!
Sleeveless Jacket
This item no longer needs to be on my wish list as I have picked up a grey one from Miss Selfridge - it's gorgeous! These jackets are in every high street shop this season, so it must be popular.
By the way, I've been long listed for the Blog Awards Ireland, which is super exciting!
What's on your A|W 15 wish list?
