Decorations from last year; our house is in the midst of being Christmas-ified right now! |
So I was tagged by the lovely Jamie to do the Christmas Tag....
"Ehm, hello?"
"Wakey, wakey Jane!"
"Have you not got something to say?"
Have I?
"YOU HAVEN'T BLOGGED IN OVER A MONTH!!!"
Shush, shush, dear inside voice of Jane, I am aware. I hope my readers will understand that I was absent for a few reasons, one being I had to study for my Christmas exams and another being that I wasn't very motivated to blog; I didn't have any ideas. But I am back, and more in the blogging mojo than ever before! I now have too many ideas, and need to put the jigsaw pieces together to create fun content, and I desperately need to organise my blogging life. I better get working!
Now where were we?
Ah yes, Christmas! Let's go...
What is your favourite Christmas film?
The classics; Elf, Home Alone, The Muppet Christmas Carol. I like many more, but they're solid favourites.
Have you ever had a White Christmas?
I think once or twice. I have vague memories of one when I was younger, and there was snow on December 25th some year not too long ago. I love snow. It's a rarity in Ireland, so it'd be like a magical gift to me if snowflakes fell from the clouds this year!
Where do you usually spend the holidays?
Home Sweet Home! Family always come to ours on Christmas day. However, over the break this year, we will be staying in a hotel in Waterford for two nights for my mum's birthday. I haven't been away in a while, so that will be terrific :D
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Correction: What are your favourite Christmas songs? I have wayyyy too many!
Again, the classics invade the top of my list; All I Want for Christmas is You, Merry Christmas Everyone, Let It Snow!, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday and many more. Michael Buble's and Hayley Westenra's Christmas albums are on infinitely on repeat throughout December too. As well as those, I like proper carols; Carol of the Bells and O Holy Night. The music is probably one of the best aspects of Christmas!
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Never. Christmas Day is the day.
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen... Oh and Rudolf! Ah, that's only seven! The ones I forgot were Dasher and Vixen... so close!
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
Continuing decorating the house; our sitting room smelling like Christmas, or a fir tree, to be more precise; going ice skating; spending a day in festively-glammed-up-with-lights Dublin and shopping with my family; Mass on Christmas Eve; swapping presents with my loved ones on Christmas morning; then swapping presents with cousins who arrive at our house; Christmas dinner.... Ah! Once again, there's a lot.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
I always have one fake tree in the kitchen, and a real tree in our sitting room, hence the fir tree smell!
What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?
Turkey, roast potatoes, vegetables, and the gravy! I'm drooling already!
Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
Giving gifts is so heart-warming; watching the receiver's smile grow with delight as they unwrap their gifts (or the 3-seconds-of-bewilderment-and-then-forgetting-about-it technique of gratitude perfected by my cousins under five) is very enlivening. I absolutely love receiving gifts too. It's a hard decision! I pick both #rebel :P
What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I remember many gifts that I have received throughout my life so I am grateful for every one. I always feel like Christmases gets better every year, but realistically, one year was just as amazing as the next! I honestly can't choose one so #rebelstrikesback :P
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
New York; the lights, the shops, the ice skating, the enormous Christmas trees, the busy atmosphere, the frosty air and snow of the Big Apple in December gives me the *feels*. If I was there it'd be like being in a Christmas movie (Elf in other words). One day maybe I can go there for the holiday season (wow I sounded so American there).
Even though going to New York for Christmas would be out of the world, I would prefer to be at home with my family for Christmas; it's not the same without them!

Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
My sister is! Can that count as an answer?
Emily is a genius at all things Christmas that I suck at, like untangling lights and wrapping presents. I'm her 'assistant' when we have to wrap gifts. I help her with the sello-tape. I'd say I'm alright when I have to do it on my own... :/
Most memorable holiday moment?
Every Christmas of my life! Gosh, I'm awfully vague in this tag.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
What are you talking about?! Santa is 100% real ;)
Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
Yes, I do, but then I don't really stick them.
I give up on making them!
*irony if someone's resolution was 'never give up'*
