OOTW: February Mid Term 2014

It's finally arrived; my Outfits of the Week post! I took photos of different outfits I wore throughout my mid term break (17th - 22nd February). Most of the look are quite bright, signalling that I'm preparing (and waiting... waiting... waiting...) for warmer weather. I did a similar post this time last year, which you can see here, and it's funny to look back on old posts and see how much I've changed with looks and photography style (it's pretty embarrassing). My eyebrows were a mess, so I warn you.

I hope you like these outfits, and I will hopefully do another OOTW the next week I have off school which will be Easter. I had a fun, eventful mid term with friends and family, and it has left me feeling content and overwhelmed with good vibes coming back to my dreary, but wonderful school. I don't really know how school can be wonderful and dreary
but let's go with it. ;)

Monday
Today I ventured to the shopping centre with my two of my best friends (who are twins and also my neighbours). They don't go to my school so I really enjoy hanging out with them since it's only once in a while. I adore this top which I received for Christmas in 2012; it's so, like, woah! It really is a 'BOOM' kind of colour so I kept the rest of my outfit low-key. I matched my top with my Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti which was a nice touch.
That rainy afternoon, I bought a jumper in Bershka plus a few knick knacks in Penneys (as you do). One of the girls also bought a gorgeous floral top from H&M. We scanned around in a few shops and didn't see much. I think this time of year is the hardest time to buy clothes and other things as it is currently transitioning from winter into spring in Ireland
(very slowly, and very steadily).
My friends and I chilled at my house afterwards, setting up Mean Girls to watch but instead ending up chatting, giggling and snapchatting.
When they went home, I then tried on the jumper, not in the changing rooms, and my mother and I agreed that it wasn't really my colour or size. Lesson learned: always try things on in shops before purchasing. I didn't fret and decided to go back in with my mum during the week and replace it (you can see what I did replace it with in Saturday's OOTD).

Tuesday
It was quite mild out today, and slightly warm, which was perfect for a nice walk around town and at the beach with a few girls. And that's exactly what I did.
Even more bright colours in Tuesday's outfit as I wore turquoise jeans with a plain jumper that has a pop of pink. I accessorised with a white lace hairband which I really liked (it was one of the 'knick knacks' I bought in Penney's the day before).
With two friends, I went to town and looked around in a few shops like Boots, Claire's and another pharmacy. We then walked down to the beach and talked, and it was
very pleasant and relaxing.
As I returned home I was invited by my neighbours/the twins from the day before for a movie in their house. We watched Jumper, and I liked it, but I felt like there wasn't any great build-up to the conflict and the storyline was interesting but a tiny bit weak. I 'discovered' a new yummy treat with marshmallows and malteasers. Together they're DELICIOUS. Gooey and chocolaty goodness.

Wednesday
Today consisted of a quick trip to the shopping centre where I got new jeans and a magazine. Oh no, not another vibrant shade! Oh yes. Again, as the colour on top was very bold, I tamed it down for the trousers and shoes. That's what I really love about these outfits this week; they really convey what I kind of things I like to wear a lot, representing My Style
(the caps were so on purpose).
I replaced the Bershka jumper with cool polka-dot jeans (keep your eyes peeled for them) and I cheekily got a copy of Company ft. Nina Nesbitt on the cover. It's the second Company issue I've ever had and I really like their content! It's very unique and mature and full of inspiration for me. I spent the rest of the day flicking though those magic pages and getting things organised for Friday (to be explained)...

Thursday
Today was my quiet day as I cleaned my room, (tried) to get a bit of homework done and other errands. So, the casual-ness of those few hours created this simple outfit. Finally, something dark. I stayed in for most of the day, so that reflected in the messy bun and no shoes on feet. Nothing special.
I was frantically getting my room ready for the next day because five friends from school were going to come over to get ready for a social/disco with me. I was super excited. I was Viber-ing one of the girls that night for ages which was a laugh. You can read about how I got on at the social if you scroll down to the next day (but don't forget to observe the OOTD!).

Friday
 Party time!
On Friday morning, I was due a haircut, so I got my hair trimmed and blow-dried so it was lovely and fresh for later that day. My mum did my fake-tan before the girls arrived (don't mock, I'm not an expert) which was very well done (and was not near my abnormally
pale leg colour, hallelujah).
Later, when they came, my friends and I got all hyper while painting nails, eating pizza and spring rolls and applying make up etc. Getting ready is always an important part for a party (uh, hello? Have you seen Get Ready With Me YouTube videos? Exactly.)
I wore this gorgeous black lace dress that I purchased back in September at the Dublin Fashion Festival, and only wore it out for the first time since! I have to say it is a stunning dress and I feel like it complimented my figure, which always a good factor of fashion; you have to
feel good in what you wear.
I painted my nails in Essie's Cute as a Button, attempted a smokey-eye with my Naked 3 palette and added a dramatic pop of colour with my Rimmel Apocalips lip stain.
The night was incredible fun! We danced the whole time, basically, and occasionally stopped for a drink and some fresh air. It was pretty packed and warm in the room, but we enjoyed it. The DJ was cool as he tried to get everyone moving and singing. There was a great atmosphere.

*Sorry for the not-so-brilliant-quality photo; I didn't have time to take out my camera. Thanks to my mum for snapping one with her trusty iPhone.*

Saturday
Today was my little cousin's christening. He's now a Catholic! :)
I had to dress up a bit for the occasion, so the sparkly top was of course necessary. I also wore the new patterned jeans (found them); I'm in love! I don't have any patterned trousers, so I've started a new collection. I like how the hairband matches the top, and the whole look is very put-together. Definitely my favourite of the week (gotta keep the best till last, y'all).
I also had Drama later that afternoon, and after I went home to finish homework. Obviously that night I joined #tbloggers on Twitter, and that's when I began my OOTW post too. Yeah, it took me that long. Downloading everything is one thing, typing it up us the next.

Fashion February Week 3: Tartan, Tartan, Tartan and more Tartan

I'm terribly sorry for the (fashionably) late arrival of the third post of Fashion February. I am currently on my last day of mid-term break ;( and this week has flashed by like a blur. I had a nice time with friends and family, but frustratingly didn't keep up to date with my blog. I hope you didn't mind; my blog isn't my first priority, as much as I'd like it to be.
(Again, you can find information on Fashion February if you click the picture at the end).

This week's topic is the one and only tartan. I own very little tartan in my wardrobe, but it is a fashion piece that I drool over in magazines (well I don't actually drool, that's a bit disgusting). Tartan was a huge A/W '13 trend and it stormed the catwalks, but just because it was last season's top design, doesn't mean you can't welcome it into your wardrobe this spring. Usually spring is all about light shades and flowers. However, if you're into breaking the trends, then wear tartan. It's a fabulous way of welcoming some grunge, rocker chic into your closet.

Do you like/dislike the item?
I only like tartan because I am not a huge fan of 'smells like teen spirit' looks. I'm talking about myself wearing the pattern though; I do like the style when models or other fashion bloggers wear it. But I just don't think tartan is for me. I did have one grunge-y OOTD back in October, and I thought it was fun to try out and I love that shirt (which isn't exactly tartan, but is close to it), but right now I'm only thinking pastels and bright colours while I'm anticipating for warmer weather (I'm sick of cold weather now!).

Talk/share how you'd style it in an outfit...
If  I wore tartan, then I would style the statement piece (refer to the collage above) with simple accessories, mostly black and gold. Keep the punk vibe with spikey bracelets and bandanas, and don't forget to top off the look with red lipstick.

If you had to buy it, where would you purchase it?
You can buy tartan in any high-street shop (Topshop, Forever 21) but you most likely won't find any this time of year. Keep a look out on future A/W '14 fashion shows to see if tartan will stay stylish for you to buy after summer, but if you already own some, then rock it now if you want to!

My blog and I won't be concentrating on dark, vampy looks these next few months though; we'll be busy seeing what S/S '14 has to offer.

See you on during the week for... an OOTW!

Girlie Night In - The Perfect Valentine's Day Treat for Single Ladies

Ahh, Valentine's Day. It's in two days.
Of course, I'm only thirteen, and most girls I know well who are around my age don't have a boyfriend or a fabulous, scandalous, flirtatious life like Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf (oh how we wish for a Chuck Bass and a place in New York though), just like moi.
So whether you are alone for the day/night or will be chilling with friends or your sisters (or even your trustworthy Mum or Granny), then organise a relaxing, spontaneous, girlie night in. Who needs dates, boxes of chocolates and bouquets of flowers anyway?

You deserve this, btw.
So, Let's. Get. Pampered...
1. Give Yourself a Five Star Spa Treatment, DIY style
Go nuts with all of your beauty goodies, from your bath bombs/crystals and body butters to your nail polish and face masks. If you're hosting a party for one, unwind with a delightful bath or shower. Afterwards, moisturise your body with your favourite butter or cream that smells so wonderful it lifts your spirit. Get into comfy clothes (preferably pyjamas) and apply revitalising facials, give yourself a manicure or pedicure and move on to the next step...
But WAIT! If you are with friends or others, maybe a bath isn't a great idea. Just skip that part and have fun with masks and varnish, but make sure not to destroy the place!
2. Bake Some Yummy Treats!
Get busy in the kitchen and bake cupcakes, brownies, cookies, chocolate biscuit cake, whatever you'd like! But if you think cupcakes is the go-to recipe, then click
here for my easy-peasy method.

3. Read
If you're having some quality me-time, snuggle in some blankets and catch up on your favourite book. I'm reading the fifth book of the Mortal Instruments on my Kindle. Reading is fantastic for this occasion as it helps you escape from this mad world into another character's life, whether it's fantasy, dystopian or normal like yours.
If you're not a keen reader, or, again, have company, read the latest gossip and fashion and beauty trends in magazines, or if they're old issues, giggle over the stuff you thought was cool last year. It's a laugh, but if that's not your thing, maybe you might enjoy blogs more, or Tumblr, Pinterest and YouTube (yes, it's not reading, but it's a lot like magazines in a way and is still very entertaining).
4. Jam Out To Some Tunes!
There's honestly nothing better than music.
Remember that the atmosphere has to be set when you're baking, toe-nail painting or flicking through articles, so create a playlist on your iPod with your go-to songs and albums. As well as the fantabulous three I suggest above which I happily received for Christmas, you can use Spotify. I love love love Spotify; it's like Netflix, but for music. I have made a playlist of awesome singles that I haven't bought off iTunes, and I don't need Wi-Fi to listen since I can download them. It's terrific and I think it's the same price a month as Netflix, 7 euro.
It's definitely worth it, in my opinion!
*in no way was this part of the post sponsored by Spotify (it's too big a company for it to notice this itsy bitsy blog either way!). I just really wanted to share with you my love for it, because it is honestly just as amazing as Netflix!*

5. And lastly, Host A Movie Marathon
I don't think it's possible not to watch films on a night in. My go-to is chick-flicks. The above are the classics, but you can also find other super ones on Netflix like Sleepover, It's A Boy/Girl Thing and the Proposal.
They're are obviously other incredible movies out there (uh hello? DISNEY!) and you can also start a new TV series *cough, cough Gossip Girl*. Whatever you watch, make sure it'll have a little humour. The Notebook and Up can maybe wait for another movie sesh!

And that sums up my ultimate night in, or day!
The reason I did an example of a night in is because I will be in school on V-Day. The good thing is that my Spanish class will be having a trip out to a Mexican restaurant for half the school-day. Woo hoo! The downside is that we were all paired with a boy (yes, the teacher agreed to this) but I actually got two guys since there's not enough girls to make 'couples'. The two lads are okay, but we won't be doing anything (zap that nasty thought from your head)
so it will be so much fun!
That evening, I hope to chill with my sister and do these exact things. I might not bake though because I'll probably be a bit too tired...

What will you be up to on the day of lurrrvveee? Try not to make me jealous...

Fashion February Week 2: The Harem Pants and Ear Cuff Fashion Statements!

*I'm ditching the schedule thing now, but I hope to get at least two posts up a week for now on; I'm only experimenting with it, so let's see if it works!*

Today I'm back with my second post of Fashion February! Woo hoo!
If you'd like to see the first post of the series, then click here.
And for a list of the participants scroll down and click on the picture.

This week we were asked to style harem/hammer pants. At first, I had no idea what harem pants were (shows how much I know about fashion :/) but when I googled them (oh wow) I recognised them. We also had to discuss ear cuffs as an accessory (and maybe style the two items together, which I did!). As for them, my ears are not pierced so I have never even wore an earring before, let alone an ear cuff! So researching and observing was quite the adventure.

Do you like/dislike the item?
I like harem pants.
They are quite tricky to style, and in my opinion look really odd and quite similar to pyjamas, but when it's done right they look super flattering on some body types. They sometimes add boho chic to a look or a chilled Cali vibe. I don't own any, as sometimes, as I said, I think they look like PJs, but the pairs I have featured above don't, I believe.

Talk/share how you'd style it in an outfit...
I think the picture above sums it up; if they're heavily patterned, then a simple top with maybe one graphic to keep it exciting (but no pattern) would do the trick. If the pants are one colour, let the top do the talking.
If you had to buy it, where would you purchase it?
I was browsing their pants sections and they have some pretty cool designs.
However, I don't think they would suit me, so I wouldn't buy them.

If I styled them with Ear Cuffs:
They would make such a classy accessory with harem pants, creating a fashionable combination of rocker and bohemian. I love the appearance of ear cuffs; on Alicia and Cara in the photos above they look specifically edgy and in vogue. If I could wear them, I would.

Before I end, I must tell you all that a personal style post is on its way (click here for a hint on what it will be)! I haven't done any OOTDs this year, which is really annoying,
so expect one soon!

I hope you are all healthy and happy, and I'll see you pretty faces next time for my
Valentine's Day special. :D

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette - First Impressions

Last week I was in my local shopping centre with my friend Mia. I wanted to buy the Naked 3 palette ever since I heard it came out in Ireland, and Mia wanted the Naked 2 palette. So, we literally zoomed down to the Urban Decay counter in House of Fraser as soon as we arrived at the centre. We didn't actually believe they were going to be in stock; they had been sold out for a whole month. We were wrong; we finally got our hands on them!

That day, I spent the remaining of my Christmas money on the twelve rose-hued eye-shadows that literally everyone in the blogging and YouTube world are reviewing. I was so thrilled! But today, I'm going to tell you my initial impression of the third instalment of Urban Decay's neutral shadows, and whether I think it was worth the cash or not. Let's analyse...

"Choose from every finish imaginable: ultra-smooth mattes, gorgeous pearls and glimmering metallics. From the palest, shimmery pink to deep, warm black, these neutrals will make you want to get Naked all over again. Every shade features our Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives each shade its velvety texture, rich colour, serious staying power and blendability." - Urban Decay

The first two Naked palettes were probably the two most talked about and most loved, in general, in the beauty universe. My sister owns Naked 2, and she uses it all the time. I was really excited when I heard about a third palette coming out by Urban Decay, especially when I heard the colours had pink tones. Pink shades of shadow definitely suit blue/grey eyes since I was recommended this eye kit by Benefit. The colours has the same kind of rose hues as the Naked 3 and they really complement my eyes, so I thought the third Naked palette was just the way to go if I wanted to get one of the famous trio.

Firstly, I love the packaging! All three palettes are very sophisticated looking but I thought tis specific one looked fresh and chic and just right for me. It's quite large to bring for travelling, but it's still possible to bring with your make-up. There are hundreds of different looks you can wear with these colours, so let's move on to them...

Strange (pale neutral pink matte-satin)
Dust (pale metallic pink shimmer w/iridescent micro-glitter)
Burnout (light pinky-peach satin)
Limit (light dusty rose matte)
Buzz (metallic rose shimmer w/silver micro-glitter)
Trick (light metallic pinky-copper shimmer w/tonal micro-sparkle)
Nooner (medium pinky-brown matte)
Liar (medium metallic mauve shimmer)
Factory (pinky-brown satin)
Mugshot (metallic taupe shimmer w/slight pink shift)
Darkside (deep taupe-mauve satin)
Blackheart (smoky black matte w/rosy red micro-sparkle)
Urban Decay

The colours are all gorgeous! My favourites are Dust, Burnout, Buzz and Nooner, so far. For the look above I used those colours. I haven't experimented completely with the lot just yet, but I quickly tried out the pigmentation of the shadows later the day I took these photos. Their textures are mostly smooth and soft, but when I swatched Buzz and Dust (which are both micro-glitter according to Urban Decay) they were a bit dry and hard, but maybe that's just the texture, as they still blend very well.

Apart from that small con, which will hopefully change, I think my first impression of these twelve eye-shadows was 'OMG I'm so damn excited to try it out more! It's amazing... wow... ahhh!'. You get the picture.

I'll give you a more detailed review on the Naked 3 soon. So far, I'm glad I bought it.

I hope you enjoyed, and I'll talk to you all on Sunday. Byeeeeee
